We had a good, brisk romp around a grey and misty Caesar’s Camp, Bracknell this morning. It’s one of Hoover’s favourite local spots, which is located across the main road (B3095) from the previously mentioned Crowthorne Woods: the two spots being linked by an underpass. I’ll tell you more about Caesar’s Camp another time, but if you can’t wait simply Google ‘The Look Out’ and you’ll find out all you need to know. We park just off the roundabout where the A3095 meets the B3348. (streetview) You’ll find acres and acres of open dog walking with plenty of muddy spots and places to wallow. This parking area is small and gets busy early on, but you can pay to park at ‘The Look Out’ itself, which has a much larger car park, in which case you’ll reach Caesar’s Camp from the other direction. There is no play equipment…it’s rough and ready dog-walking countryside here…but it is popular with mountain bikers. Fortunately you can usually hear them coming, and as they have specially created trails that are far more exciting to ride on than the footpaths they tend not to be where people walk too much, so doggy collisions are unusual. Having said that if you go off-piste keep your ears pinned back for them. There is a bin for poo by the parking area, but that’s it so I think most people ‘stick and flick’, but there are an inconsiderate few who let their dogs foul the main path from the parking area and leave it because they are too bone-idle to walk 100 yards back to the bin. (Rant over!)
Caesar’s Camp is a great place to have a long or short walk with your four-legged friend, particularly if you fancy somewhere really ‘doggy’…
